It was ‘dress down’ day—the day everyone had the chance to showcase the latest clothes we had acquired. Versace skirts, Vera Wang tops, Louis Vuitton fur coats and a host of foreign designer clothes with ‘V’s in their names, painted the office with a plethora of colors.

I was born and raised a Roman Catholic. I wouldn’t use the word ‘staunch’ or even ‘devout’ to describe my family or my Roman Catholic experience, but my parents, especially my mother, would instil The Fear of God in you with a whip if need be.

Childhood revolves around innocence and a strange perception of the essence of existence. Childhood could also be a period of guilt, especially if the morality conveyed by religion isn’t inculcated. I grew up with the peaceful constitution of Islam, which to this day remains the cardinals of my existence.
